Board To Hear Jones High Plea The Orange, County School ready to listen tonight when Canon Nelson Pinder presents them with a resolution calling for rezoning of Jones High School, board Chairman Lee Collison said Monday. "We're all sympathetic with the fact that Jones should have some more students The problem is doing it without having to g0 to court," Mrs.

Collison said. JONES IS THE only high school in Orlando's predominantly black west side and its student body has shrunk from 1,900 to less than 700 in the last five years. The school board has tangled with the Jones problem periodically since October. Parents Get 10 Days On School Law Donald and Shirley Rahl of Christmas Monday were convicted of violating Florida's compulsory school attendance law and were given a 10-day jail sentence each. A County Court jury, following the trail before Judge Lee Conser, took only a half hour to find the couple guilty of not allowing their children, Kimberly, Susan and Debbie, to attend Columbia Elementary School.

JUDGE CONSER sentenced the couple to 60 days, suspended 50 days of it, and said they could serve their 10 days each in jail on alter ating weekends. He ordered the children to be placed in school and placed the parents on twoyears probation. The Rahl case is among the first in a wide crackdown against school attend dance law violators initiated by the Orange County school system through the state attorney's office. Two weeks ago, the board adopted a plan that would open Jones, Boone and Edgewater high schools for an after hours slate of recreational academic, SOcial and health activities for all ages (community school concept). THE RESOLUTION, however, included no plan for boosting Jones' sagging student body. Pinder, who will present the resolution adopted unanimously at a black community meeting Sunday, will ask the board to take action that would boost Jones' student population to about 1,400. Pinder also is expected to ask the board to put aside the community school plan until Jones has been upgraded as regular academic high school. "THE BOARD is all in favor of helping Jones, but I'm just not sure how many board members would want to risk possible countywide rezoning at this time." That would mean taking the plan to court for de se gregation approval, Mrs.

Collison said. "I think it will have to be studied and I doubt we will take immediate action tonight," she said. The board will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. at its Tampa offices. RENT COLOR $095 per wk.
