L. Ley, reutrn-ed to this city recently from the Methodist conference at Jacksonville, as pastor of the Ley Memorial church, he broke all previous records in southern Methodism for continuous services to the same church. Rev. Ley has entered upon his twelfth year as pastor of tha church here whereas no other preacher in the history of southern Methodism has ever served a church more than eleven years. The late Rev.

George R. Stewart of Birmingham, Alabama, was tied Rev. Ley for continuous service until about two years ago. Then the Florida conference changed the date on which its conference year ended, moving it to June instead of December. This gave Rev.

Ley the advantago of an additional conference year, in reality only period of six months by the calendar, Until 1920 there was a rule in the Methodist church that no pastor should servo a church over four years under any circumstances. That year, however, the rule was changed and provisions made for pastors serving long in exceptional cases. Rev. Ley was just completing his four years in this city and would, under the old rule have boon transferred. Rev.

Ley lived here ss a boy with his father, the Rev. J. C. Ley, who served as pastor here for more than sixty years. A brother of Rev.

In presenting this sedan Dodge Brothers have come to the fore with a car so new and so advanced in engineering: features that it has been accorded a most enthusiastic reception by the public. Orders for approximately $3,250,000 of the sedans were received within two days after it was introduced and since that time business has been go gTeat that production has been increased. The new car is advertised as the fastest four in America, giving mile-a-minute performance with surprising ease and smoothness and acceleration from 0 to 25 miles, per hour in less than 7 seconds through gears. So great is the power of its engine in relation to the weight of the car that it is never forced to labor and is, therefore, free from the roughness and pounding that result from strain.

Steering and parking ease have been accompliled by placing ball bearings in the steering spindles as well as in the steering gear itself. The car will maks a full turn in a 38-foot street. Howard Rowton, state TO'875 F.O.B. adjutant of the American Legion, Sweet Clover Fields Source Of New and I'seful Strains All sweet clovers are variable in their habits of growth, and many individual plants of distinct type and form may be found in nearly any sweet-clover field. This offers an opportunity for the develop ment of new use train of clover for definite use, according to L.

W. Kephart, forage crop specialist of the United States Department of Agriculture. There is considerable interest at present in the production of better hay varieties, he says, since the common sweet clovers, especially the white-flowered species, are too coarse and heavy to make good hay from the second year's growth. Several good hay varieties have already been developed, notably the early flowering Grundy County Crstal Dwarf, and Early Dwarf varieties of wdiite sweet clover, and the Albotrea and Switzcr varieties of yellow sweet clover. Recently a type of sweet clover bearing many more and finer stems than the common sorts was found at two of the western Canadian experiment stations.

It resembles alfalfa so closely that it is easily mistaken for that plant. This important discovery will no doubt add a distinct new type of forage plant to the present list. The need for winter-hardy types has been met with the An tic, or Hansen's Siberian, a white flowered variety from western Canada, and Albotrea, also from Canada. A sweet clover much better suited than the common sorts to the cold, dry climate of the northern Great Plains appears to have been developed at the Redficld, S. field station of the United States Department of Agriculture.

Several persons are endeavoring to find a sweet clover that will grow on acid soils, lack of lime being a serious hindrance to culture of the crop in many localities. Still others are trying to develop a ftrain suited to the drought and hot winds of the southern Great 1'lains. A type of sweet clover that would be exceedingly useful, according to Mr. Kephart, is one that would remain green late in the fall, start growing early the next spring and remain green and in good feeding condition well into the following summer. A number of experimenters, both on farms and at experiment stationsc, have approached this type with selections of common white sweet clover.

Perhaps even better results will come from tests now being male with species and varieties brought from Kurope and eastern Asia, one such species this year having remained green six weeks later than any sweet clover heretofore grown. low-priced car can even approach. new type compact top with jack TERE acain in this new "52 announced here.
